Welcome to Barcelona, the second largest city in Spain and the capital of Catalonia, within the metropolitan area it has a population of 5 million. The founding of Barcelona is the subject of two different legends. The first attributes the founding of the city to the mythological Hercules 400 years before the building of Rome. The second legend, and the one I prefer, attributes the foundation of the city directly to the historical Carthaginian Hamilcar Barca, father of Hannibal, who named the city Barcino after his family in the 3rd century BC.
The weather station in use is the Fine Offset WH1081 (Maplins N96FY) connected to a dedicated ASUS Eee PC 701SD series netbook computer. The computer has been running continuously from 14 February 2012 and uses the Cumulus v1.9.4.1075 software.
